Well, it’s that time again. Welcome to another dance with insanity. It’s good to have you.
Let’s get right to it with another installment of LEGEND OF THE SWORD BEARER:
I’ve been experimenting with new fonts and a new way to make speech bubbles. I hope you like it. I certainly do. They look… clean, sharp, professional. And I am nothing, if not professional. Well, most of the time.
The thing about being a “professional” is that it’s more of a mindset than a pay grade. I learned that a couple of years ago and it changed everything. To be a professional means showing up, whether you feel like it or not. In the artistic world, it means creating something new every day you can, whether the inspiration is there or not. the most successful artists and writers don’t wait for inspiration; they create an environment where inspiration will come to them. They make it happen, whether they feel like it or not, whether it is financially acceptable or not. That’s a professional.
That does NOT mean that you never take breaks or days off. Your brain is a machine, and that machine needs maintenance. You need to take a day off every week or so to keep that machine in proper working order. Same with any other job, whether you’re using your brain or your muscles.
Anyway, I’m about half-way through my first edit of THE FALL OF EMRYS and I like how this story is turning out. I hope to have it ready for beta-reading by the middle of the month. Now I just need to round up some beta-readers. That shouldn’t be hard; I just need to get together the crew from my last book, plus maybe some fresh faces.
I’m also working on another short story from the records of Walter Ulric. This one got off to a rocky start, but I like how it’s shaping up now. I’ve about four other story ideas rattling around, and those should be taking substance, soon. I hope to release the anthology in October of this year, if all goes according to plan.
