I just turned thirty this past weekend. I gotta tell ya, I can hardly believe I’m thirty already. It just doesn’t seem like it. There are a lot of things I wish I had known at twenty and a lot of things I wish I had done; however, I don’t think it’s too late to learn those things.
Anyway, here are some things I wish I could tell my younger self.
Learn to control your emotions now and you won’t have to deal with the consequences later. I’ve had volatile emotions my whole life, and I never dealt well with the unexpected. I’m learning to control my emotions now, but I wish I had known how ten years ago. Maybe I would be in a better place now.
Discipline yourself. Self-discipline goes hand in hand with controlling your emotion. Discipline is sacrificing what you want right now in favor of what you really want. Pretty much all other virtues come from this.
Don't simp. Men, do not spend too much time or money chasing after women who do not see you romantically. You’ll waste your energy and they’ll just think you’re pathetic.
Don’t be a jackwagon. Being rude, arrogant and unreasonable is not going to impress anyone except other jackwagons. It certainly isn’t being “alpha”. Be polite, kind and considerate of others, but don’t be a pushover.
Don't change yourself to make others happy. Don't find your self-worth in other peoples’ acceptance. Don’t try to remake yourself into their vision so that they will like you. Be the best version of yourself and improve yourself daily and the right people will find you.
Eat more eggs. Seriously, this changed my life. Eating eggs every morning has given me more energy and turned my attitude around.
Learn to forgive yourself. The sooner you forgive yourself of the bad things you’ve done or thought, the better. A little self-criticism is good, but one can overdo it.
Learn to be happy alone. If you can’t be happy alone, you won’t be happy with someone either.
Invest in the stock market. I wish I had invested my hard-earned cash earlier. If I had, I’d be much better off now.
Learn soft skills such as conversation. This will help you A TON when building your own business or getting a job.
I know I’ve learned a lot more than this, but were I to cover all of it, the article would be longer than what you’d be willing to read, so I’ll leave with these ten lessons, and hope that the younger generation will consider what I’ve said.
